California Pizza Kitchen has introduced a new pizza trails menu featuring select pizza from different countries. I was able to try a few different ones, here goes…..
First up was a blue horizon drink, with citrus flavors and Blue Curacao syrup, was quite refreshing for a hot day.
Next up was a cottage cheese dish, crusted with seasoning. While I got the veg version the non veg version also looked similar and both were good.
Since I can’t full pizzas by myself I got 2 different flavors in the same pizza, half and half.
The first set was peri-peri and Thai curry flavors.
Both I felt were lacking a bit in flavor, the peri peri can be spiced up more and the Thai curry one had a very unique flavor which didn’t agree well with me.
The next set had the friolles from Mexico and the pizza from south Africa (I forget the name) both were really good full of flavor and textures.
I could get the pic of only the Mexican one.
Finally for dessert got the Enigma, which is a dessert in a jar with lots of mascarpone cheese and cream and figs and was absolutely decadent, a definite must try for the end of the meal.
Do go and chk out the other country pizzas as this is available only till Nov 17th.
I’ve decided to leave the weekend rush and madness to try any new restaurants or anything else for that matter. So my daughter and I went to Ciclo on a Monday night.
Right from the start I was very impressed with the service how they took care, from the valet to the person seating us. After we were seated I saw that they had a combo deal going on which would hold true till 7pm. As we were there before 7 we chose the veg combo with pizza, sandwich was the other option, it came with a mock tail and was priced at 299. Non veg was priced at 349.
We got a cucumber mint refresher as the mocktail, and true to its name it was very refreshing and light.
The pizza we got was verdure, or so was the name. Was quite huge, 6 slices, I assumed it would be small as a part of the combo. It too was delicious.
I also got a soup, the bellpepper zucchini soup. This was also very light and had good flavor, a tad bit too much Rosemary for my preference though.
Finally got dessert, the salted caramel cheesecake. This was disappointing to me. The crust was not like a crust and very soft, which I don’t like, the cake was very doughy. It almost felt like eating a yeasty thing.
Chipotle Mexican Grill is one of the best options for people, who like me, are vegetarians.
You get to choose from burrito, tacos etc, the meat or in my case, beans option and they will make it for you within a few minutes. Very very tasty and very very addictive.
This was soft tacos with beans filling, lettuce, cheese and guacamole.
When I got to CA, I found some very enterprising Indians who started something similar with the Indian twist! Chapatti or poor is, with an option to choose from 3 different curries! Make it as a wrap or as is! Cool!!!!
Key lime pie cheesecake!
Tiramisu cheesecake, my all time favorite!
A friend was visiting CA while I was there and wanted to catch up for dinner. I had heard from my cousins about this Mediterranean place and wanted to try it.
The name of the place by no means does it justice to the food served. So authentic and well prepared it was hard to pull apart the flavors.
I got a chilli vodka drink to kick off the night 🙂
We also got a mezze platter
The main was garlic almond rice with a cauliflower side (can’t remember the name).
On a bright sunny day we decided to head out to the beach so that we cld enjoy some sun and sand. I had the relaxing at the beach but my brother had pigging out at the Ritz in mind.
After a bite of the delicious food at the Ritz nothing else mattered!
We got a raspberry lemonade which was so refreshing.
The fresh raspberries added to the tartness of the lemonade and made it a very pleasing drink.
We got some fries with an garlic aioli dipping sauce and it was awesome!!! It turned sometimes simple like fries into gourmet!
I got a baked brie dish, which was just brie cheese baked to perfection served along with some toasted garlic bread. At first, seeing the quantity, I thought it would not be enough but I couldn’t even finish half!
The rest of the family got a few other things, which I don’t remember now, but the service was exceptional! They made everything vegetarian as per our requests and catered to our every whim and fancy! Was truly blown away in every aspect.
Chennai is slowly becoming the home to lots of small bistros which are popping up all over the city. One such, relatively new one is L’ amandier which is in the next building to Cream Center at RA Puram.
After not getting reservation for lunch for a bunch of us girls, someone picked this place to try out. The owners have certainly taken the trouble to make the place look nice. The menu is a simple sheet with a la carte offerings on one side and set menu offerings on the other.
We decided to try the set menu which included a soup, starter, main, and dessert. I got a broccoli and mint soup which lacked any real flavor and was very watered down. For the starter I got a German potato salad. This was literally 6-7 small cubes of potato and a few leaves and not much flavor.
For the main I got a risotto. This was decent portion but had no salt whatsoever! There is a difference between cooking with little salt and with none at all. And this was the case for all of the main courses that people got. As I was the only veg in the group I thought there was a problem with mine but then everyone was frantically shaking the salt shakers.
I truly believe that a good dessert will make up for any bad meal if that happens. So finally I ordered a white chocolate mousse with some orange sauce. What I got was no mousse but more little badly whipped cream with some orange stuff on top.
Here are some of the other desserts that the others had.
The first is a molten lava cake that was decent. And the second was a fig and something pancake.
The service was also very slow and quite sloppy which made our experience of eating there not very nice. I do hope that the kinks will be worked out as time goes and this will be a place where I can go and enjoy a good meal
purely my views and these can and will differ from others. discretion advised!
